How do I change my profile picture, name or status?

Photo and name

Depending on your privacy configuration, your profile photo and name may be visible to anyone you chat with on WhatsApp. To set your profile photo and name:

1. Open WhatsApp > tap the three dots in the bottom right.
2. Select settings > profile.
3. Tap your Profile photo to take a new photo or choose from albums.
4. Tap the text box under Enter your name to change the name that is visible to your contacts.

The status feature in WhatsApp is a real time indication of what you are doing so that you can keep up to date with your contacts. To set your status:

1. Open WhatsApp > tap the three dots in the bottom right.
2. Select settings > profile.
3. Click on the pencil icon to open thestatus screen.
4. Tap the text box to write a personal status.

If you block a contact, that person will not see any updates to your profile picture and status.
